Co-President and Head of Acquisitions
Ryan Anderson has served as Co-President and Head of Acquisitions of MREM since 2008 and is also its co-founder. MREM is an institutional middle market real estate private equity firm focused on distressed real estate debt and equity and opportunistic investments throughout the United States. In such capacity, he provides overall strategic and investment direction for the firm. Ryan leads MREM’s business development, acquisition and investor relations functions. Since MREM’s formation, Ryan has spearheaded the acquisition of over $1.3 billion of non-performing and performing debt. Ryan is a member of the MREM investment committee.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Spanish and a Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO.

Terry Anderson has served as Co-President and Head of Operations of MREM since 2008 and is also its co-founder. MREM is an institutional middle market real estate private equity firm focused on distressed real estate debt and equity and opportunistic investments throughout the United States. In such capacity, he provides overall strategic and investment direction for the firm. Terry leads the financial management, acquisitions and investor relations functions of MREM. He has spearheaded the acquisition of over $1.3 billion of debt since MREM’s formation. Terry is a member of the MREM investment committee.
Terry earned a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting and Master’s Degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance both from Rockhurst University.
Kyle N. Siner
Chief Financial Officer
Kyle Siner joined Mariner in 2010 as its Chief Financial Officer. In that capacity, he oversees all of the accounting, financial and tax reporting functions of MREM. Prior to joining Mariner, Kyle held executive financial positions with affiliates of Mariner. In these roles, Kyle had worked closely with Ryan and Terry Anderson on various joint ventures since late 2007. Prior to joining Mariner and its affiliates, Kyle held various financial management positions in public accounting and private industry, ranging from family-owned businesses to a Fortune 100 corporation. He began his career with Deloitte & Touche. Over 14 years, Kyle has obtained management and in-depth technical experience and expertise in acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, joint ventures, investment groups, investment funds, financial products, private equity, venture capital, and tax planning for businesses and individuals.
Kyle received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Rockhurst University and a Master’s of Science of Accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Kyle is a Certified Public Accountant.
Senior Legal Counsel
Doug Miller joined MREM in 2010 as Senior Legal Counsel, bringing more than 10 years of experience to his role. In such capacity, he oversees all legal affairs and is actively involved in all the legal aspects of MREM’s business including acquisitions, financing, asset management and strategic planning. He previously served as the lead servicer’s counsel on a variety of securitization transactions totaling more than $1 billion. He has significant experience working with commercial lenders and has negotiated and documented more than $100 million of commercial real estate loans.
Doug holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Missouri State University. He has a Juris doctorate and a master’s of law (taxation) from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Doug maintains licenses in Kansas, Missouri and New York.
Director of Asset Management
Corey Walker joined MREM in 2008 and currently serves as its Director of Asset Management. In such role, Corey oversees the implementation of the asset strategies which include the management, development and disposition of real estate assets as well as the workout and resolution of non-performing CRE, ADC and CMBS loans. Opportunistic in nature, current assets under management are located in over 30 states and include a wide variety of uses such as retail centers, multi-family residential, single family residential master planned communities and raw land.
Prior to joining MREM, Corey was a senior associate at a land planning and entitlement consulting firm, specializing in master planning, development review, economic analysis and operations. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Brian Douglas is a senior associate at Mariner Real Estate Management (MREM). He is responsible for asset management functions and strategy execution across the firm’s portfolio. He also assists with new business underwriting.
Brian has 12 years of industry experience. Prior to joining MREM, he was a senior associate at GE Capital Real Estate in the JV Equity Group. In that role, he was responsible for the oversight of a $1 billion portfolio of institutional-grade real estate, including 6,800 multi-family units and one million square feet of commercial office space.
Brian has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and a master’s of business administration degree in real estate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Rob Isselhardt is a senior associate at Mariner Real Estate Management (MREM). He oversees a team of investment analysts who work closely with the acquisitions team to model, analyze, underwrite and perform due diligence on potential real estate investments. Rob also serves as a liaison with various investment partners in coordinating deal negotiation, structuring and closing.
Prior to joining MREM, Rob was an associate director of investments at ORIX Capital Markets, where he worked with originators to evaluate and execute real estate focused investments. He also worked with the corporate development team on various strategic initiatives. Rob’s experience also includes working with various real estate focused divisions of ORIX Capital Markets, including acquisitions, development, structured finance, asset management, REO and CMBS surveillance.
Rob has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in finance and real estate.
Ed Horne is currently the President and CEO of Capitol Realty Advisors, Inc. of Austin, Texas, and Vice President of MHI Central Texas, LLC. In addition to those roles, Ed acts as a Senior Advisor to Mariner Real Estate Management, LLC. Ed runs the development operations of Santa Rita Ranch which is an approximately 3,000 acre master planned community in northwest Austin, TX. Santa Rita Ranch is a partnership between Mariner Real Estate Management, LLC and Capitol Realty Advisors.
As the founder of Wilshire Homes in 1991, Mr. Horne oversaw the building of 300-600 homes per year in the Austin and San Antonio new home market. Wilshire Homes delivered a highly customized product to first and second time move up homebuyers. Wilshire Homes is a values driven company that operates to a set of core values, those being; Honesty, Integrity, Trust and Respect, Excellence and Continual Improvement. The company has received numerous awards from the industry for its product, people and execution, as well as being ranked in Austin and San Antonio as one of the Top Places to Work in its respective cities. In March, 2010, a division of McGuire Homebuilders (MHI Central Texas, LLC) purchased the assets of the homebuilding company.
During Mr. Horne’s tenure as President of Wilshire Homes, Wilshire built over 6,000 homes in Austin and San Antonio. Approximately 60% of the lots were self-developed by entities under Mr. Horne’s control.
As Vice President of MHI Central Texas, LLC, Mr. Horne manages MHI’s land and lot acquisitions and portfolio. MHI builds over 1,500 homes a year in the Texas markets. The Austin and San Antonio divisions build an average of 600 homes each year.
Mr. Horne has also served as a regional Vice President of the Fortress Group, Inc. During his tenure at Fortress, he was the manager of the Western Region of the United States (Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and Missouri) where the company developed master planned communities and built over 4,000 homes each year.
